Joplin lacks such an giant to spur the growth, but I definitely support bringing jobs and any growth possible to the region. It would be great to see such a boost to the local economy
»I would be in favor of improvements to Geneva or Highview. I think we should not promote more medians on Rangeline. They interfere with commerce, and many businesses made the decision to locate based on the ability to make a left hand turn into their property

»Evolve the system from 'trolleys' to a small (but bigger than what we have) bus system. Expanded service and hours. More routes, and more stops. Move it from a niche system to one that people can regularly use to access all areas of town. Either a route, cris-crossing grid system, or a hub/transfer system.
»I know it's not only me that thinks my ideas are good. Everyone I speak to about this agrees with me. What's it going to take for you to personalize this issue? A family member in the grips of addiction? A death? Someone stealing from you to further their addiction? Why can't we be more proactive?
»The D.A.R.E program just isn't enough. Neither is, "just say no." This will probably be swept under the rug like NIMBY. Well, citizens, open your eyes because it is in your backyard. Not a person reading this hasn't been effected by abuse of some sort. The cookie cutter approach just isn't working for all. We can do better. »This is a great idea. A few years ago we had that bad snow storm and people where without power for weeks. This is a great idea and very much needed. I now live in Carl Junction due to the tornado and I believe Carl Junction should do the same thing.
»I agree also. Non violent offenders should be able to go help with the Disaster Clean Up. I do not see any reason not to. Joplin can always use the help.
»No to the round abouts. I agree causes more traffic wrecks because people do not know how to use them. Lights seem so much easier. Red Stop Green go seems alot easier than driving in circles
»Most likely this would have to be a cooperative effort between the city and corporate partners and donors. Also grants are available for projects such as this, both private and through the federal and state governments. If it were to be built on the old St. Johns property, perhaps even St. Johns (Mercy Healthcare) could fund the observation tower and other projects and in return it could be called the Mercy Memorial Gardens & Tower. A small fee could be charged for use of the tower and the museum. It would have to be a revenue generating project to keep up on maintenance.
»Great idea if the funds are available. Joplin is a strong community and should have a memorial that shows our strength to the world.
»I would like to see Cunningham Park enlarged. The children' memorial would be great. I think a fountain or pond would be so pretty. It would be nice if it was a pond to have ducks and fish. There could be fish food vending machines for food to feed the fish/ducks. They could earn some money, albeit very small amount, to help with maintainance of pond and critters. Landscaping, play equipment and more picnic shelters would be good.
»The first step would be to design and build new residential and commercial buildings that don't require as much power to operate. Well designed buildings are one of the most cost-effective opportunities to save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Consider site conditions. Insulate. Take advantage of natural resources - the great outdoors - for lighting and fresh air. Install high performance windows. Use energy efficient appliances..... simple steps to make a big difference.
